The Tet and RFP genes were combined, by deleting the "stop" sequence in the Tet gene and adding a linker sequence of proteins GGGS x4 to create a fusion protein. The resultant protein is a single protein with both the Tetracycline resistance protein and the Red fluorescent protein, combined with a linker chain.
