Varies from -6 to +1 region from original sequence to accomodate BioBricks suffix ("orig" in figure 4-14 of Ron Weiss thesis). <p>No secondary structures are formed in the given RBS region. Users should check for secondary structures induced in the RBS by upstream and downstream elements in the +50 to -50 region, as such structures will greatly affect the strength of the RBS.

LacZ alpha fragment; complements matching N-terminal deletion mutant (lacZ-omega)
2007-12-21T12:00:00Z
2015-08-31T04:07:25Z
This part is derived from BBa_E0033.
This part encodes the alpha fragment of the lacZ gene. To greatly reduce the number of bases, this is only a portion of the LacZ gene. It can be used as a detection system with N-terminal deletion mutants of lacZ. Combination of lacZ-alpha with such a deletion mutant protein restores enzyme activity that can be assayed colorimetrically or more sensitively with chemiluminescent substrates.
