The truncated YiaT sequence was derived from:
Han, M.J., Lee, S.H. (2014). An efficient bacterial surface display system based on a novel outer membrane anchoring element from the Escherichia coli protein YiaT. FEMS Microbiology Letters, 362, 1-7.
The E. coli membrane protein YiaT (truncated at R232) and fused with a multiple cloning site. The multiple cloning site is located on the extracellular side of the membrane and is on a long flexible arm of the C-terminal end of YiaT. This system allows for the expression of any protein to the outside of E. coli.
