Bacterial phytochrome isolated from genomic DNA, T7 from 2011 kit plate.
This is an assembly of an Deinococcus radiodurans isolated bacteriophytochrome gene with a Synechocytis heme oxygenase 1 gene under a T7 promoter. The bacteriophytochrome gene produces a protein that interacts with Biliverdin, a chromophore. The chromophore is produced by heme oxygenase oxidation of heme in the heme metabolic pathway to produce the biliverdin. Sequence contains a Ribosome Binding Site. The Deinococcus radiodurans bacteriophytochrome binds to biliverdin, a chromophore. Biliverdin is produced in the heme metabolic pathway catalysed by heme oxygenase. Once bound to the chromophore the complex can absorb red and far red light causing the complex to change colour from blue to green reversibly. This part also has a ribosome binding site (AGGAGG) located 6 base pairs upstream from the ATG start codon.
