The DNA for this part was graciously donated to the Brown iGEM Team by Ry Young at Texas A&M University. The team then BioBricked the part for submission to the registry.
The gene cassette consists of the S105 protein (Holin), R protein (Endolysin), and Rz protein. When paired with an inducible promoter, the cassette is activated by the inducer and begins to produce the proteins which lyse the cell.
This cassette contains the mutant S gene, which can be found individually as BBa_K124014. The S variation allows for faster lysis.

PfixK2 was obtained from the 2011 Uppsala-Sweden team; it is available as BBa_K592006 in the registry. The bacteriophage lysis cassette was obtained from the 2012 plates (BBa_K124017).
This part contains the FixK2 promoter (BBa_K592006), to which phospho-FixJ binds to, as an upstream part. The downstream part is a gene cassette which(BBa_K124017), when activated by an inducer, begins to produce proteins which lyse the cell. This composite part can be used with in conjunction with FixJ and YF1, a blue-light sensing protein, to cause cell death when the cells are exposed to blue-light.
