Genomic Sequence
This sequence codes for the transcription factor, E2F1. E2F1 is a member of the E2 family and plays a role in the cell cycle and activation of tumor suppressor proteins. It has been shown to be involved in processes related to transcriptional control, apoptosis and dna damage control through its particpation in p53 dependent pathways. In particular, E2F1 directly drives the expression of p14ARF, a tumor supressor gene that upregulates p53.
E2F1 can be used by encoding its DNA sequence(provided here) to transcriptionally activate certain genes involved in apoptosis (i.e. p14ARF) as well as the cell cycle(i.e. CDC2).

There was a restriction site, Bbs1, presented in the original DNA sequence. Because of this, a single base pair in the sequence was changed from an A to a G. The codon still encodes for the same protein, Glutamic acid. The specific sequence was changed from GAAGAC to GAGGAC. The sequence was also yeast optimized.
