Description
The deduced amino acid sequence of ferA (found by Magnuson et al.) was reverse translated with optimizations to work best in E. coli. ferA encodes an 89kDa cytochrome involved in the reduction of Fe(III) in Geobacter sulfurreducens. The sequence contains 12 c-type haem-binding motifs (CXXCH), as well as a lipid-attachment site and an ATP/GTP binding site.
