Description

This is a composite part of cytochrome B5 and cytochrome B5 reductase. CytB5 is a membrane-bound hemoprotein that gives electrons to oxygenases, such as CytB5Red. CytB5Red does this reduction: NADH + H+ + 2 ferricytochrome b5 = NAD+ + 2 ferrocytochrome b5. It controls the amount of iron in red blood cells.
