Description
This part makes xylA and xylB metabolizing protein. It also includes the DNA region between the two open reading frames. xylA is a subunit of xylose isomerase. xylA catalyzes the reaction D-xylose = D-xylulose. xylB is a xylulokinase. xylB catalyzes the reactions D-xylulose + ATP -> D-xylulose-5-phosphate + ADP, and ATP + 1-deoxy-D-xylulose -> 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate + ADP
Notes
xylA and xylB are together in this part because it is useful to have both proteins expressed at once, rather than making 2 parts that must be combined for functionality.
