Description
The promoter ompW is regulated by the inhibitor protein ArcA. In the presence of hydrogen peroxide, ArcA is activated and, therefore, ompW is inhibited. For our project, we will use a 56-base pair long sequence of DNA that we will place into a receiving plasmid using BsaI sticky ends. We will then use bacterial transformation to determine the functionality of our promoter sequence.
Notes
We removed 14 base pairs from the DNA sequence. These base pairs were numbered -42 to -55.
Source
The paper we are using for our source is Hypochlorous acid and hydrogen peroxide-induced negative regulation of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium ompW by the response regulator ArcA.
The source of this promoter is Salmonella enterica.
