Description
Cre recombinase is an enzyme that catalyzes site-specific recombination between two LoxP sites. Depending on the direction of the LoxP sites, the recombinase can either excise the sequence between the two sites and then fuse the DNA or it can invert the sequence. The part can therefore be used for several functions such as a permanent switch and "flipase".
