Description

This is a variation of the LacI wild-type protein. It is characterized by a missense mutation in the 61st codon in which serine is mutated to leucine. This mutation causes a 10,000 fold increase in binding affinity of this protein for the pLac promoter.

Notes

Because there are more than one codons that code for leucine, we chose CTG, because it was the most common leucine codon found in the rest of the LacI wild-type gene.
