Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum polyketide antibiotic produced by the Streptomyces genus of Actinobacteria, indicated for use against many bacterial infections. It is a protein synthesis inhibitor. This part includes a gene which has resistance to tetracyclin.
In our project, we use this part as a marker to select colonies of E.coli which succeeded in transformation.
