Sequences BBa_K1122679_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This translational unit enables expression of pyruvate decarboxylase (pdc) and alcohol dehydrogenase B (adhB) fused peptides in Bacillus subtilis using xylose induction. Production of pdc and adhB fused enzymes allows for conversion of pyruvate to ethanol via an acetaldehyde intermediate. The fusion state generates increased ethanol yeilds in aerobic conditions what should have a beneficial effect on EtOH production in B. subtilis

Notes

Part was generated from EdiBrick - fused pdc and adhB (K1122674) via MABEL utilising standardised primers.

Presence of LacZ alpha peptide enables blue - white screening in E. coli when the part is inserted into an E. coli - B. subtilis shuttle vector.
