Sequences BBa_K1313000_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This sequence codifies an enzyme, Cholesterol Oxidase. This enzyme transforms the 3-OH group from the cholesterol into 3-keto; this reaction is not directly related with the elimination of the oxidation in the 7 position of the 7-ketocholesterol molecule. However, it is an "activation" reaction that unleashes the following reactions of the synthetic metabolic pathway, this occurs at the beginning of the degradation of sterols of many microbial pathways. The first step of this reactions is the oxidation of 3B-OH group, catalyzed by extracellular cholesterol oxidase.

Notes

Any design considerations.
