Description
Ptet-tetR. This promoter is induced by aTc. The gene tetR, results in the formation of the repressor tetR and the enzyme T7 polymerase, which induces the promoter PT7. TetR represses the promoter Ptet. It can can be used as a tuner, to repress and control the expression of 7 as a function of the aTc concentration present.
T7 is a very processive enzyme: It causes a very high transcription rate, even resulting in toxicity to the cell. This bio-brick allows us to control the induction of genes under the promoter PT7 without causing toxicity to the cell.
