Description
This is RdRP, or RNA dependent RNA polymerase. That is, it produces a protein which can bind to a single-strand RNA fragment via an IRES (internal ribosome entry site), read the RNA, and produce from it the same RNA fragment in the opposite sense. This was fundamental to our 'Replicon' project, because it allows the RNA (introduced via viral chassis in the theoretical or transformation in the practical) to self-replicate within a cell.
Notes
It was necessary to remove a PstI binding site which invalidated this part as permissible for iGEM's RFC25 standard.
