Description

This sequence encoded for the delta15 desaturase. The gene is from Synechocystis sp. and optimised for the expression in E. coli. During the fatty acid conversion process, delta 15 desaturase catalyses the conversion of linolenic acid (18:2) into alpha-Linolenic acid, ALA (18:3) by adding a cis-doube bond at carbon 15.

Notes

The enzyme cut site must be designed according to iGEM prefix and suffix requirements.
