Description
Long chain fatty acids (LCFAs) are naturally transported into E. coli by a long-chain fatty acid outer membrane porin, which is encoded for by fadL. fadL and fadD are required for the uptake and break down of fatty acids in E. coli. This gene is under the control of the lac promoter.
Notes
This plasmid allows for induced expression of fadL with lactose or IPTG.
Source
The lac gene is sourced from the iGEM distribution kit. The fadL gene was extracted by genomic PCR from DH5alpha E. coli.
