Description
A gold binding peptide is a series of amino acids that have an affinity to gold, mostly sulfide based amino acids, since sulfide groups have a natural chemical affinity to gold. Ferrichrome Iron outer membrane transporter is a membrane protein. We fused FhuA, iGEM BCCS-Bristol???s part, BBa_K259000, by fusing a gold binding peptide to it. By doing so, the gold binding peptide will be anchored to the cell membrane through Ferrichrome Iron outer membrane transporter protein and be extracellularly located for gold nanoparticle attachment.
Notes
We added restriction enzyme sites (Prefix-Suffix) to the upstream and down stream of the fused gene.
Source
FhuA is from iGEM BCCS-Bristol???s part, BBa_K259000; and is from the chromosomal DNA of E.coli.
