Description
This Phytochrome B is sensitive to red light and far red light. Upon being struck by red light it changes conformation and can bind to its interacting factor PIF3. This complex then translocates to the nucleus and induces changes in transcription. In plants this protein is involved in de-etiolation of seedlings.
This fusion protein is for use in a yeast-two-hybrid system, and has a nuclear localization signal and a Gal4 DNA binding domain fused to its C terminus.
Notes
This is not the complete PhyB sequence, it is just the N terminus (the portion needed to function while minimizing background), residues 1-621.
Source
Part cloned from cDNA from Arabidopsis thaliana. The DBD and NS are from pGBKT7.
The part is cloned into registry plasmid pSB12A, Amp resistant.
