Description

Gentisate 1,2-dioxygenase is the first enzyme in gentisate pathway that catalyses the ring fission of gentisate to form maleylpyruvate. Degradation of aromatic compounds by microorganisms is not only a basic step of carbon cycle in the nature, but also plays a key role in the detoxification of these compounds in environment.
