Description
Disulfide bond isomerase shuffles disulfide bonds in the periplasmic space. This part is secreted to the periplasmic space, where it allows disulfide bonds to break and reform repeatedly. This has been shown to allow disulfide containing proteins to fold in a stable, functional manner.

This part was chosen to shuffle disulfide bonds in a venom serine protease that is also being secreted to the periplasmic space
