Sequences BBa_K2149002_sequence (Version 1)

Description

The gene homogentisate phytyl transferase (HPT) taken from Synechocystis sp. is involved in the synthesis of tocotrienol and tocopherol. This enzyme has the ability to catalyze the reaction between the recently formed phytylpyrophosphate (PPP) and homogentisic acid(HGA).

Notes

The gene was synthesized with thirty nucleotides in its ends to do a Gibson Assembly overlap. Its design takes into consideration the RBS and the coding sequence.

Source

HPT was taken from Synechocystis sp. (accession number K09833). This gene is the unique transferase
of these organisms able to combine phytylpyrophosphate (PPP) or geranylgeranylpyrophosphate (GGPP) with homogentisate (HGA).
