Description

com E and F genes are found in Acinetobacter BD413 sp. The ORF of the two genes has a size of ~1kb. The pillin like competence factors codes byn these two genes are involved in natural DNA translocation and uptake from surrounding and works in conjunction with comP, conferring natural competence to the bacterium. Com F gene mutants are found to be 1000 times less competent. (Busch et.al 1999.)
