Description
prtE, codes for a polypeptide of
448 amino acid residues (predicted Mr = 49.5 kd) which
is probably initiated at an ATG codon located 14 bp
downstream from the prtD gene stop codon TGA. It is
preceded 11 bp upstream by a GGGA RBS consensus
sequence. The hydropathy profile of the PrtE protein
shows at least one hydrophobic domain with the sequence
(residues 30 to 60) which might be a transmembrane
segment. No signal peptide is found at the N-terminus, which
is hydrophilic
Notes
The gene actually will be fully function with other two genes which are PrtD and PrtF.
Source
E. chrysanthemi ABC transporter PrtDEF might function
well in the phylogenetically-neighboring genus E.
coli.On
the basis of the apparent molecular weights we tentatively
assigned the 50 kd protein to the prtD gene product (protein
PrtD).
