Description
This part consists of cre recombinase behind a weak promoter and a floxed RFP gene after a stronger promoter. This construct can be used to determine how various lox sites recombine and whether cre has different affinities for different lox sites.
Notes
Cre recombinase is behind a weaker promoter to prevent the protein from excising all of the RFP genes in the cell. However, RFP is behind a stronger promoter because a minimal level of protein production is needed for it to be a useful reporter.
