Description
ComD is the histidine kinase of a two-component signal transduction signaling pathway in a Streptococcus pneumoniae quorum sensing system. It detects the linear autoinducing peptide (AIP) called Competence-Stimulating Peptide-1 (CSP-1) which is coded for by the ComC gene. Upon detection of CSP-1, ComD will autophosphoylate and then phosphorylate and activate the response regulator, ComE
