Description
RUNX2, or runt-related transcription factor, is a master osteoblast differentiation transcription factor; it is a downstream target of BMP-2 and switches on transcription of multiple effectors of osteoblast development. NCBI page with sequence, gene information etc. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/860
Isoforms: There are three isoforms of RUNX2 in humans, this part contains isoform Type-II, alpha, which is the longest and includes the 3' exon.
Notes
We wanted to use the longest RUNX2 isoform; this isoform has been shown to induce bone differentiation when transfected into human cells.
