Sequences BBa_K417000_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This is the protein coding sequence of S-adenosyl methionine synthetase, which catalyses the formation of S-adenosyl methionine synthetase (AdoMet) from ATP and methionine (ATP + L-methionine + H(2)O <=> phosphate + diphosphate + S-adenosyl-L-methionine). Other names for this enzyme are AdoMet synthetase, methionine adenosyltransferase. It is the product of the metK gene in E. coli.

Notes

The genomic sequence corresponding to this part does not contain any illegal restriction sites with respect to RFC10, so no mutagenesis of the native sequence was required.

Source

Part was cloned from genomic DNA of Escherichia coli strain BL21(DE3) using PCR.
