Description
The Deinococcus radiodurans bacteriophytochrome binds to biliverdin, a chromophore. Biliverdin is produced in the heme metabolic pathway catalysed by heme oxygenase. Once bound to the chromophore the complex can absorb red and far red light causing the complex to change colour from blue to green reversibly. This part also has a ribosome binding site (AGGAGG) located 6 base pairs upstream from the ATG start codon.
Notes
EcoRI site at 385bp which creates a problem for Biobrick construction and submission as a DNA part following standard submission protocol.
