Description
The Agrobacterium tumefaciens bacteriophytochrome binds to biliverdin, a chromophore. Biliverdin is produced in the heme metabolic pathway catalysed by heme oxygenase. Once bound to the chromophore the complex can absorb red and far red light causing the complex to change colour from blue to green reversibly. There is a ribosome binding site six bases upstream from the ATG start codon.
Notes
XbaI site not present. Contains two PstI sites. Requires a promoter for use in E.coli. Part is flanked with in plasmid with EcoRI at 5??? end and SpeI at 3??? end.
