Description

Vitamin B12 binding protein is a Cluster A type binding protein of the diverse ABC substrate binding proteins. Specifically, it is called BtuCDF and is involved with transferring B12 into the periplasmic region of E. coli. There are two ATP binding regions, BtuD, and 20 transmembrane helices, BtuC, that are directly involved with the transport of B12 across the cell membrane, and BtuF, which binds B12.
