Description
[Mus musculus]= common house mouse. Noggin is a protein involved at multiple stages of vertebrate embryonic development including neural induction and bone formation. It acts as an antigonist in the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-signaling pathway by binding to the BMPs and preventing them from binding to their receptors. This has an effect on some processes; including embryonic dorsal-ventral axis, induction of neural tissue, formation of joints in the skeletal system and neurogenesis in the adult brain.
