Sequences BBa_M11007_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This homodimer belongs to the iron-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family for alcohol metabolism; butanol biosynthesis. Butanol dehydrogenase catalyzes the final reaction in the formation of butanol. NADH-dependent butanol dehydrogenase is a product of the bdhA gene of Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824. While bdhA is primarily NADH-dependent, some activity with NADPH was observed. [Walter et al. 174(22):7149 (1992)]

Notes

bdhA comes from the (-) strand

Source

bdhA is from Clostridium acetobutylicum ATCC 824: NC_003030 on the (-)strand
