Sequences BBa_M11026_sequence (Version 1)

Description

Beta-glucosidase is one of three major enzymes required for the hydrolysis of cellulose into glucose monomers, playing its role in the final hydrolysis of cellobiose (glucose dimer) into glucose monomers. Glycolysis can then occur. This enzyme expression is cellulose-inducible, and the enzyme is secreted from the cell.

Notes

I had to find whether or not this enzyme was encoded to be secreted or if a secretion tag had to be added.

Source

This enzyme is coded for in a number of organisms, but was taken from Aspergillus niger in this case.
