Description
This is a single open reading frame which contains multiple genes that codes for necessary proteins in the sysnthesis of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Ecosapentaenoic acid is the PUFA that is synthesized using this organism. The proteins coded within the gene are part of the families of Beta-ketoacyl synthase, Beta-hydroxyacyl-(acyl-carrier-protein) dehydratase- FabA/FabZ, Beta-ketoacyl synthase- N-terminal, and Beta-ketoacyl synthase- C-terminal. This gene sequence is to be used in sequence with pfaA, pfaB, and pfaD. By cloning these genes into the same organism, it should be able to produce omega-3 fatty acids.
Notes
Mutations were made to the orginal sequence to exclude Pst1 sites as well as Xba1.
