Description
This is a single open reading frame which contains multiple genes that codes for necessary proteins in the sysnthesis of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Ecosapentaenoic acid is the PUFA that is synthesized using this organism. The proteins coded within the gene are for phosphopantetheinyl transferase. This gene is to be used in sequence with pfaA, pfaB, pfaD, and pfaC. By cloning these genes into the same organism, it should be able to produce omega-3 fatty acids.
Notes
In the original sequence there were EcoR1 and Pst1 sites at 436, and 126 bp resepectivly. The mutations were made and the sequence is provided.
