Description
This gene is part of the bacteriophage M13 genome. It encodes a protein that is important for phage maturation. It encodes a protein that remains in the host cytoplasm to interact with the pore through which the phage ssDNA is threaded as the phage matures. A second gene (gX) is encoded at the 3' end of the gene thanks to an internal RBS and second initiation codon.
Notes
need to unstuff gX from inside of gI
