Sequences BBa_M36402_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This part encodes for the SAM enzyme (Salicylic acid carboxyl methyltransferase) which in the presence of salicylic acid will catalyzes the conversion of salicylic acid to methyl salicylate. This will release the distinct wintergreen smell.

Notes

We made sure to remove different restriction sites that would interfere with the creation or function of the enzyme, namely BsaI and SapI which is used by DNA 2.0 for Electra cloning.

Source

This part is derived from SAMT from Clarkia breweri.
