Description
This part is the ctfA gene, or butyrate-acetoacetate COA-transferase subunit A, that is used in a complex mechanism/pathway to produce acetone. We are aiming to use this alone with several other enzymes to eventually produce acetone and CO2 from e.coli bacteria. This part, along with ctfB, produces acetoacetate and butyryl-CoA, which are the penultimate products before the final product, acetone.
