Description
The part codes on both the sense and the anti sense strand. The operon codes for a promoter in for both the anti sense and sense strand. On the anti sense strand, the transcription factor AraC is coded for before it reaches the terminator. AraC goes on to bind and inhibit the Ara promoter on the sense strand. In the presence of arabinose, the transcription factor binds to the arabinose, thus, dislodging from the Ara Promoter, so RNAP can bind and begin transcription. The phenomena of coding on both the sense and anti sense strand simultaneously is seen in lots of prokaryotic organisms because it allows for smaller DNA.
Notes
You have to consider whether your gene is on the sense or anti sense strand.
