pAlkB promoter in Pseudomonas putida

Types
DnaRegion

Roles
promoter

Sequences BBa_M41005_sequence (Version 1)

Description

It is an inducible promoter for alkBFGHJKL operon (alkane degradation operon). It is induced by AlkS-Hydrocarbon complex. The operon encodes different enzymes responsible for alkane degradation. Expression of the PalkB promoter is also modulated by catabolite repression depending on the carbon source being used.

Notes

pAlkB is regulated by different carbon sources. When alkane is the only major source for energy in the cell, pAlkB will express the operon.
