Sequences BBa_K1121000_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This medium chain zinc-containing enzyme of the dehydrogenase/reductase family is NADPH-dependent. It has been shown to reduce acetaldehyde and isobutyraldehyde to their corresponding alcohols (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22731523).

Notes

No detailed design was done in the creation of this part, other than the design of primers to amplify the gene. The choice of gene was due to its broad-spectrum reduction of aldehydes, which we hoped would allow us to reduce isovaleraldehyde to isoamyl alcohol.

Source

This part was amplified by PCR from the New England Biolabs top 10 strain of Escherichia coli.
