Description
This part codes for the Major Tropism Determinant (mtd) protein responsible for selective protein binding to the surface markers on Bordetella bacteria. It has several specific nucleotides in its sequence that can be mutagenized to change the binding properties of the protein without adversely affecting the folding and stability of the protein.
Notes
In designing this part, we had to alter 3 restriction sites naturally occurring in the sequence: PstI, EcoRI, and NotI.
Source
This part is naturally occurring in the genomic DNA of the Bordetella BPP-1 bacteriophage. Citation: Overstreet, C. M., Yuan, T. Z., Levin, A. M., Kong, C., Coroneus, J. G., & Weiss, G. a. (2012).
