Description
NisI is a nisin immunity gene. In Lactococcus lactis it protects against it's own nisin.
Notes
Used primers:
forward - 5'-GTTTCTTCGAATTCGCGGCCGCTTCTAGATGAGAAGATATTTAATACT-3'
reverse - 5'-GTTTCTTCCTGCAGCGGCCGCTACTAGTATTACTAATTTCCTACCTTCG-3'
to PCR NisI from the genome and add the BioBrick prefix and suffix.
Deleted illegal SpeI site at position 762 using above primers, changing a AAC codon in a AAT.
Source
Obtained by PCR on the genome of Lactococcus lactis NZ9700, a nisin producing strain.
