Description
It can self-splice at 18℃, means that it can catalyze its own excision from the flanking polypeptides, or exteins, as well as ligation of the exteins. We constructed this part from VMA and its exteins in original host.
Notes
Since extein sequences around the splicing junctions affect the splicing activity significantly, this VMATS part is intein with 10 residues of it's native N-exteins and C-exteins at the junction. While fusing intein to protein, users can fuse the intein with it's flanking residues (we recommand 2~3 residues).
Source
It's from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and synthesized by Genescript.
