Description
This is the coding region of the CPR gene from Artemisia annua with added biobrick suffix and prefix in a pSB1C3 plasmid backbone as well as a 6 his tagged component. This part is an element of TCD iGEM 2015 set of parts for the synthesis of the anti-malarial drug precursor dihydroartemisinic acid in E. coli. The CPR gene encodes the enzyme Cytochrome P450 reductase, which catalyses the conversion of NADPH back to NAD+ by transference of electron between Cytochrome P450. The product is used in the production of dihydroartemisinic acid, which can be isolated and converted to the anti-malarial artemisinin. This part is codon optimised for BioBrick 3A assembly and expression in E. coli cells as well as protein purification.
