Description
This part consists of a codon optimized version of GcABC-G1 for Saccharomyces cerevisiae. GcABC-G1 is a monoterpenoid efflux pump from Grossmannia clavigera, which mediates a higher resistance towards Limonene and in general monoterpenoids.
The efflux pump is part of the ABC-transporter family and leads to the transfer of monoterpenoids out of the organism into the surrounding enviroment.
In the project of the Marburger iGEM-Team 2016 the transporter was used to not only confer a higher resistance towards limonene in S. cerevisiae, but also to secrete the monoterpenoid and final product of the artificial endosymbiotic production line, perillyl alcohol, into the medium.
Notes
Biobrick cutsites had to be codon optimized for Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the biobrick cutsites had to be removed during sequencing.
Source
The original gene has been found in the genome of Grossmannia clavigera.
The submitted sequence was synthesized by idtDNA and codon optimized for Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
