Description
This DNA sequence codes for the enzyme CCD1, also known as carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase 1. CCD1 cleaves beta-caroten to form two molecules of beta-ionone. This enzyme completes the beta-ionone biosynthesis pathway in yeast. This sequence also includes a PGK promoter and an ADH1 terminator.Notes

The sequence of this part was originally taken from the genome of Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous. This sequence can be found in the NCBI database.
